Johnna Geick is a mixed-media artist primarily working with acrylic paints and canvas embroidery. Often portraying the female nude, she explores the duality of nudity as a natural, innocent state of being as well as an empowering and sexual female experience. She aims to reclaim the female nude in a way that honors the complexity and independence of women. Lush flora and fauna are also meaningful elements of Johnna’s works, reflecting her passion for the environment and celebrating nature as the original source of beauty and balance. These combinations of feminine and natural imagery grow from ideas of Gaia, the divine feminine and fertility. Johnna’s spiritual explorations and psychedelic experiences also heavily influence her aesthetic. Her use of vibrant colors and expressive marks make her messaging both playful and powerful. As a young artist, Johnna’s style remains fluid. The depth of both her concepts and technical abilities are growing alongside her as she pursues her artistic career independently. Currently based in Chicago, she is selling prints, taking on commissions, live painting and trying to create the most honest extensions of herself.
